Photographing London

Photographing London. Volume 1 Central London by George Johnson

When I moved to London in the 90’s to go University, a trip into Central London was a regular pastime. Over the years I have got used to staying more local and found myself forgetting how many places are there to be photographed just a short tube ride away.

I bought this ‘coffee table’ book to provide some inspiration, and so far it has not disappointed me. The front cover greets you with one of my favourite spots, the view of Westminster framed by the bridge underpass. I have been to this very spot a number of times and have a focus stacked version of this photo on my About page.

The book is well organised, and divides London into different areas with a breakdown of many good spots to start looking for your next great memory to capture. Along with the example photos are the exact locations as well as advice on the best time to be there to get the most our of your visit.

I think it will take me some time to work my way through these pages, but have found myself already considering getting the Volume 2, Greater London soon as well.
